 Focus On New Markets And Technologies To Promote P

PETALING JAYA, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will focus on getting newmarkets and adopting higher production technologies, as part of itsstrategy to boost palm oil exports, said chief executive of Malaysian PalmOil Promotion Council (MPOPC) Datuk Haron Siraj.

Haron said this at a palm oil trade awareness seminar organised by MPOPChere Monday.

As part of its plans, he said Malaysia will be looking at intensifying itsmarketing efforts in the new market of Middle East.

He said Iran will emerge as a strong base for the promotion of palm oil inthe Middle East and the future plans will be for Malaysia to have storagefacilities for palm oil.

Haron added that MPOPC and its representatives had already set up amarketing office in Iran early this March to promote palm oil in Iran andcountries near to the the region. -- BERNAMA
