30/03/2008 (The Star Online), Johor BARU - The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will set up a meeting with the National Price Council to discuss the redistribution of subsidies.
Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said he was trying to get a meeting with the council in the next two months.
“The council was set up before the elections and we hope to meet as soon as possible to see how we can tackle the matter in the interests of the consumers,” he told reporters after opening a function at SK Tanjung Puteri here.
Shahrir, however, refused to elaborate on how he planned to redistribute the subsidies.
“I don’t want to talk about it yet. We will talk first and get everybody to agree,” he said.
When asked about complaints over the current price controls on cooking oil, Shahrir said palm oil mill owners should stop complaining.
