INTERVIEW-Squeeze in global vegoils supply seen from October

20/05/2008 (Reuters), Jakarta - A squeeze in global vegetable oil supplies is expected to start in October as the high production cycle in palm oil slows and prices will only rally if adverse weather comes into play, leading analyst Dorab Mistry said on Tuesday.

The high palm output cycle, which began in October last year in the world's top producers Malaysia and Indonesia, is likely to end between June and September in 2008, said Mistry, who handles the vegetable oil buying and trading portfolio for India's Godrej International

"If there is any weather problem prices will have to go up. The maximum impact will be between October and the lean palm oil season in February 2009," Mistry said in an interview ahead of a three-day global palm oil conference in the Indonesian capital.
